Sequs are wolves who have devoted their lives to one of the gods, and as such they are the only wolves who can control elemental magic. They hold a position in the pack that demands the same amount of respect as a Medi, however they don't have any official authority to hold over the other wolves, for the most part. They have special markings held only by Sequs, with the patterns differing depending on which god they follow. Very, very rarely pups are born with these markings, which means they are favored of the god whose markings they were born with. Otherwise, the markings are dyed into their fur permanently during the ceremony during which the apprentice becomes a Sequs. Currently Adair wolves can only be Water or Earth Sequs, and Riuna wolves can only be Fire or Air Sequs.

As stated before the Sequs are the only ones who can wield elemental magic. However, not all Sequs will have it, and their chances of obtaining it will vary depending on the god they follow. Now, while this may make some more power hungry wolves want to be the Sequs of a certain god, over time the proportions of Sequs to God to Power equal out the same, so it is pointless. The particular attitudes the Gods have towards giving out powers can (eventually) be found at The Gods board.
Now in general, gifts given by Dargan and Trigo are the most powerful offensively. Even with a modest gift of fire from Dargan, you can still, you know, set stuff on fire. And being able to control the ground beneath your enemies feet is also very beneficial. Air is rather effective as well, with powerful users of it able to cut off their enemy's air supply and strangle them (however is the target runs away they can usually escape death). Water is perhaps the one most ill suited for battle, due to the power needed to create storms and other such weather systems powerful enough to do damage. However these things would also do terrible things to the Sequs's own side, making them rather unhelpful. But, for the most powerful of them, they can create thunder storms and harness the power of lightning bolts to strike their foes. More specific information can be found under the God Given Magic on the Magic Abilities Board

Each god has their own specific design for the markings on their Sequs, the descriptions are listed below (with pictures, provided by the wonderful Wolfeh!) While the hue of the colors listed for each type can vary, the color stays the same. Sequs markings with colors out of the ordinary (like Audrey's black Fire Sequs markings) means that the Sequs has done something very terrible, for, due to the nature of the markings only one of the gods can give the power to change their nature (or do it themselves). So, those with odd colored Sequs markings denote a criminal of the highest sort.
Dargan, God of Fire - Fire Sequs markings are a spiky, tribal design that start out under the eyes and then flow across each cheek and around the neck to make a mane of fire-like designs across the wolf's back. They are usually red, though some can be orange, and those born with them are known to have them in red, orange, AND yellow, similar to a true flame.
Seina, Goddess of Air- Air Sequs markings are wisps of color across each cheek, like puffs of air. These continue down the length of the wolf, in imitation of air streams, culminating in curls at the end of each flank. These markings are usually in white, or sky blue. Those born with the markings can have a mix of the two.
Trigo, God of Earth- Earth Sequs markings show as thorny vines that circle around the limbs of the wolf, growing up across the shoulders and flanks to the line of the spine, at which point they go all the way down to the tip of the tail, always staying on the line of the spine, and upwards to the head at which point they split apart at the crown of the head and curl under each eye. They are usually dark green, though females might have lighter green markings, with the thorns being a brown color.
Arria, Goddess of Water- Water Sequs markings start out as a drop marking at the inner corner of each eye, sort of like tears. From the outer corner of each eye a small stream of color sweeps across the side of the wolf, sweeping around like a river. On the legs there are many, many raindrop markings, giving it the look of rain. These fade as they reach the shoulders and haunches of the wolf. These are usually some hue of Blue. However, on those born with the markings, they can have sea green markings.
